What I do at Lane
The Library is the heart of our campus and my job is to keep the heart beating! During the Covid crisis, I do my job from home; working with students by chat, email, and Zoom to answer reference questions, develop topics for research, find relevant sources, and understand different types of information. Email is the best way to reach me.
I teach individual classes on how to find and use information, and I collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy concepts into their courses. I create tools to develop skill-building for research and academic success. I create research guides and select materials for purchase in many subject areas. If you would like a specific workshop for youself, or your students, get in touch! I love to work with Library users to find all manner of information resources for academic research, pleasure reading, and creative endeavors.
Gosh, and I haven't mentioned meetings! I serve on multiple committees and work on a variety of projects related to the Library, special events, and campus initiatives including the Library Makerspace, the Honors Program, readings, and exhibits.
During Spring term 2019, I was on sabbatical. Read my sabbatical report here: With Literacy and Justice for All: Library Programs for Refugees and Newcomers. During the period February 2020 - February 2023 I am a Fulbright Specialist for libraries. I am also an artist. To learn more about my artwork, please visit ephemerarium.
