How do I check out items?

Laptops, Chromebooks, Hotspots

Contact the Student Help Desk (SHeD) to make a request.

Books, DVDs, Magazines

  1. Place a hold in the Library Catalog (Video: step-by-step instructions)
  2. Wait for an email to confirm your request.
  3. Pick up your items in Building 4's breezeway just outside room 106 during open hours.

For Your Safety

  • Masks are required.
  • Maintain a distance of 6 feet or more from others.
  • Hand sanitizer is available.
  • Returned items will be quarantined before being loaned out again. 

Who can borrow materials from LCC Library?

  • Currently enrolled LCC students
  • Faculty, staff and retirees of LCC
  • Current Pacific University Eugene students and faculty
  • LCC board members
  • Residents of Lane Community College district who purchase a Community Borrower card
  • Qualified borrowers from Orbis Cascade Alliance Libraries

How long can LCC Library materials be checked out?

Students

  • Books: Four weeks
  • Course Reserves: Determined by the instructor
  • Reference books: Online resources available
  • Magazines: One week
  • Newspapers: Online resources available
  • Audiocassette recorders: Not available at this time
  • Headphones: Not available at this time
  • Scientific calculators: One week
  • Videotapes: One week (exceptions: videos on reserve, teleconferences, and expensive videos)

Can I borrow materials from other libraries?

  • Summit Borrowing including University of Oregon: Current students, staff, faculty, and retirees have access to over 27 million books, sound recordings, films, video tapes, and more from over 36 Northwest colleges and universities. Learn more »
  • Interlibrary Loan: Students, staff, and community borrowers may also borrow materials from libraries worldwide through LCC Library's interlibrary loan service. Read more about requesting an interlibrary loan. 

How do I renew materials?

Books, magazines, and videos in the Library's circulating collection can be renewed online or by emailing the Circulation Desk at library@lanecc.edu. 

  • Books: up to 3 renewals are allowed if there are no holds.
  • Videos: 1 renewal is allowed if there are no holds.
  • Periodicals: 1 renewal is allowed if there are no holds.

Where do I return items?

Important: Due to staffing issues, returns at the Mary Spilde Downtown Center are cancelled until further notice.

Laptops, Chromebooks, Hot Spots and Other Computing Devices

Please return computing devices to a staff member during open hours at the Library pick up and return area in Building 4's breezeway just outside room 106.  If you are unable to come during these hours, contact us at library@lanecc.edu.

When the Library pick up and return area is closed, please use the Library drop box.

What are the overdue charges and fees?

  • Schedule of overdue and replacement charges: See Circulation Policy -- Overdue and Replacement Charges for Specific Material Types
  • Payments: Library overdue charges and fees are regularly sent to College Finance. Payments can be made online using MyLane, in person at Building 1 (Student Services), or by mail. Visit Enrollment and Student Financial Services for more information. The Library is unable to accept payment.
  • Refunds: See Circulation Policy -- Overdue Library Materials -- General Policies
  • Appeals: See Circulation Policy -- Appeal of Library Charges
